Reign Over Me

To prepare for the film view “I’m Old Fashioned” from You Were Never Lovelier (1942, William A. Seiter, 97 min.).

View Reign Over Me paying careful attention to all of its uses of media including film and its intentional intertextual play on Sullivan’s Travels (at the movie theater).

What is the function of music? Video games? Movies? Television news? 1940’s musical? What do the different characters of the film learn about facing “reality”? What do you think?

Also, it may be useful to work through some general interpretation of the film.
