Return to The Biblical Geography Workshop

This activity has a couple of options. First, you may work with a Bible which has maps (often located in the back) or Chapter by Chapter Scriptural Maps (instructions) and the scripture texts linked below (download Google Earth free)Second, you may create your map by hand in which case print out the PDF version below, or on your computer in which case use the Pp version. Click here for very brief instructions regarding working with maps in Pp.

Oracles Against the Nations (Prophets)

Part A, Amos. Use this map (PDF version) (Pp version) (alternate version). Read Amos 1-2 and layout the nations against which the prophet pronounces judgment. On the map you are creating: mark locations and scripture references in order to illustrate sequence. Can you discover a rationale to the progression of the oracle of judgment?

Part B, Jeremiah. Use this map (PDF version) (Pp version) (alternate version). Read Jeremiah 46-51 and layout the nations against which the prophet pronounces judgment. On the map you are creating: mark locations and scripture references in order to illustrate sequence. Can you discover a rationale to the progression of the oracle of judgment?

Part C, advanced. Use this map (PDF version) (Pp version) (alternate version). Layout the oracles against the nations in Isaiah 13-23, Ezekiel 25-32, or the Septuagintal (LXX) version of Jeremiah 25-31. On the map(s) you are creating: mark locations and scripture references in order to illustrate sequence. In these cases, significant background is required to make educated guesses at rationale for progression amongst or juxtaposition of the oracles.
